The illustrator did a phenomenal job conveying all of Cath’s emotions. The illustrator specializes in black and white manga style and that is very evident. It has those cozy vibes that makes you want to read this while curled up with a blanket and a hot beverage. It feels like such a comfort read, probably because the book is set during the fall/winter. If I could use one word to describe this book it would be cozy. I am familiar with the story so I was able to read and understand this volume without having read volume 1. Never before have I read a interconnected crossover series of this magnitude or one done as well as these. I love this series, love the crossover with the MC and the latest addition of the new Don and his Lady. Of course it’s steamy, and funny, and so sad at times but this family always comes together to support each other no matter what. Intrigue, suspense, love, betrayal, heartbreak, honor, familial bonds breaking and becoming more solid than ever. ![]() ![]() Filthy Secrets was the perfect name for this book. The story… I felt like I wanted to take notes with so many story lines that intersected but true to this author, she kept things straight for us. Only during one of Connor and Stars conversation was it a true duet which I prefer. The narrators were all wonderful, the only semi negative thing is that this wasn’t a duet, or whatever a group of this many narrators would be called. The magical nature of language also manifests itself in logic and mathematics that refer to ill determined, fuzzy objects, sets and relations in the real world. The relatively smallest (but still significant) magical admixture is present in science, because of its relatively reliable methodology, while the largest is found in religion and a large part of philosophy. On the one hand, language increases greatly the effectiveness of the processes of thinking and interpersonal communication, yet, on the other hand, it determines and distorts to a large extent the picture of the world created within the mind. Groom's novel is a great deal more absurdist than the film, which has comedic elements and conveniently places Forrest in the middle of a number of major historical events, but doesn't go quite as far as making him an astronaut. Famously, Forrest Gump going to space never made it into Zemeckis' film, which unfortunately means no scene of Tom Hanks trying to wrangle ape urine in zero gravity made it to the big screen. ![]() |
